Contracts for (some) unconventional gas research awarded

Just over a year ago, the Scottish Government announced a moratorium on unconventional gas development pending a programme of research work, which was expanded in October. Contracts for 3 of the 8 research projects were advertised in December, and have now been awarded: Induced Seismic Activity - British Geological Society; Community Level Impacts from Traffic - Ramboll Environ; Decommissioning, Site Restoration & Aftercare - Aecom. Further information is awaited on the other 5 projects: full public health impact assessment, further work to strengthen planning guidance, further tightening of environmental regulation, climate change impacts, and economic impacts.
