Ian has a deep-rooted love of the outdoors and wild places, and wants to help communities, businesses and individuals throughout Scotland use the law not only to promote genuinely sustainable development but, just as importantly, to protect their unique natural environment from unsustainable development.

He is an expert in the law and practice of environmental regulation, particularly in water law, and has considerable voluntary sector and other experience including as an environmental campaigner and community activist.

Although a qualified Scottish solicitor, Ian practises as an independent consultant on environmental and planning law.
